New York, Manhattan Tour

 North America
United States of America
Duration : 3 Days / Driving Time : N/A
Total Distance : N/A

Instead of describing a road trip, we will be focusing on a unique city, Big Apple. The 3 days proposed here will take you around the main scenic points around Manhattan in addition to the different cultural regions of New York.

New York is an amazing city in which architecture is very diversified and where numerous cultures mix. As such, you will be able within 10 minutes walk, to switch from Chinatown to Little Italy and then back to traditional red brick houses or ultra modern sky scrapers.

Don't be surprised to see buildings stacking up vertically and the famous smoke pipes sticking out in the streets, which are used as an exhaust for urban underground heating systems.

Now, let's start exploring...

1. Central Park

Central Park is, as its name states, in the center of Manhattan. Multiple subway lines will lead you there. However, before entering the park, I really suggest you stop by one of the street food carts and get yourself a big classic of New York : a hot dog. They are amazing but unfortunately so quickly down your throat !

A great way to get round the huge park is to avoid doing it by foot. You can rent a bike in order to get through the big distances very quickly (see site HERE). Be aware that pre-booking your bike over internet is a 50% discount on the rental.

Below, you will only see pictures of the wide open areas of Central Park, with buildings in the back. However, be aware you can see hundreds of things and spend more than a complete day just in this location (Belvedere Castle, multiple gardens such as the Conservatory Garden, a lake, a zoo...). The complete list is available on the web site of Central Park.

2. Brooklyn Bridge and Pier 1

Leaving south east of Manhattan is Brooklyn Bridge, a unique construction, complete in 1883, which allows cars, pedestrians and bikes to cross the East River.

Once accross the bridge and in Brooklyn, you can walk backwards towards the East River to the Pier 1 Playground from which the view on Manhattan is spectacular.

3. The Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of the symbols of New York city. Completed in 1931, it remained the tallest building in the world until 1970.
